Hattie Collins – Journalist & Author
Hattie Collins is an award-winning journalist and a published author with over 17 years of experience in the music industry. Starting as a freelancer in 2003, Hattie is currently Editorial Consultant at Apple Music 1, where she also hosts a radio show, Proud. Specialising in, but not limited to, popular music and culture, Hattie has interviewed globally recognised artists such as Kanye West, Rihanna, Adele, Justin Bieber and Beyoncé for publications including i-D, GQ Style, Vibe, Elle, Arena Homme +, the Sunday Times and the Guardian.
Hattie also finds time to work with a number of brands including Selfridges, Ballantines, Hennessy, Casio and Red Bull, write biographies and press releases for major record labels and delivers media training, helping prepare musicians for print, TV and radio interviews. In addition, she has ghostwritten four books to date and has hosted numerous panels and workshops for institutions and brands including the ICA, the BBC, the Amy Winehouse Foundation, Red Bull and SXSW.
Considered a specialist in grime, her 2016 book, ‘This Is Grime’ was covered by The New Statesman, The Guardian and Channel 4 News. Over the past three years, Hattie has curated and co-curated exhibitions including ‘For The Culture’ at Somerset House, ‘Locked In, Locked On’ at Platform LDN and ‘An Eye On Grime’ at Prime Studio in Leeds.
In 2018, Hattie featured on the Woman’s Hour ‘Women In Power’ list alongside Dua Lipa, Adele and Beyoncé.
