UD educates, empowers and creates life opportunities for young people inspired by the sounds, words and rhythms of Black music culture.
At UD, we have the backs of the young people we serve. Education is at the heart of everything we do; whether you’re making your first steps into music, through our work with schools, or engaging with UProgress and Industry Takeover, about to embark on your big break, UD moves every young person we serve upwards, with integrity.
UD is passionate about excellence, and the potential for excellence in every young person we encounter.
While it can be difficult to progress with so many barriers in place, entry into music and the music industry shouldn’t be a privilege or reserved for the few. UD is an expert friend to the music industry, and to the music educators who have the best intentions for the young people we serve – we want you to unlock your potential.
“I’ve been a student for the past 6 months and it has been one of the most beneficial factors in my career to date. Being given the opportunity to present myself and my work to industry professionals has allowed me to make connections and put me in places I had no idea I’d be in this time last year.”Adrian Okezie aka Digital Mozart, student 2018 – 2019
work with schools
Our flagship entry-level music project is created for years 9 to 11 (who have suffered in cuts to school music provisions). Following the UD philosophy to nurture and enable young people with a passion for music to pursue their dreams, UProgress serves as the perfect introduction to both the art and business.
Industry Takeover is aimed at equipping young people with the tools they need to navigate the music industry.
Level 4 courses
Whether your future involves becoming a successful artist or a professional working in the business of music, our Level 4 course (equivalent to the first year of a degree), in conjunction with the University of East London (UEL), will help you make your dreams a reality.
