UD Low Down: Flames x Jake Bugg @ Olympia Liverpool, 24/08

Acclaimed singer-songwriter Jake Bugg, invited Flames to join him on backing vocal duties again, this time for his One Night at the Olympia show, in Liverpool, on 24th August. Flames vocalist, Nayana.AB, gives us an insight into a night in the life of the Flames Collective…

Working with Jake Bugg’s team is always a dream. Flames have worked with him on radio performances, live videos and shows over the years. The last time we performed with him was at the Royal Albert Hall – and it was a lot of fun – so we were all ecstatic to be joining the team again in Liverpool.

Other Flames vocalists present for the Liverpool show were Jack, Molly Elizabeth, Promise, Rashád & Ella-Mae.

It was our first time being sent out of London alone to do a backing vocal job, usually we have Andy (Flames leader) or someone else with us, somewhat holding our hand. To some extent it made the experience feel more real doing it all by ourselves. The journey both there and back was super easy, minus the little run we had to do to catch the first train on time… There is nowt cute about running through Euston station with luggage.

Behind the scenes, Liverpool.

With Jake, we worked on ‘Broken’ and ‘All I Need’.

There is nothing like being on that stage, the lights shining down on you, the band popping off behind you and having your friends beside you. Each artist we perform with moves with a different approach to performing and it’s electrifying being right behind them as they tap into their on stage personas.

“It was a surreal experience, I was able to perform on stage with people I love working with and exude the same energy. Big purr!”

One of my favourite things about this show was the fans. Let it be known, Jake’s fans go crazy for him, especially the ones in Liverpool. There was one man in the audience crying and screaming his name. Words cannot describe the vim they came with for him and they showed us a lot of love too. A few of them recognised us as we were leaving and did not hesitate to congratulate us. Shout out to the man who helped us into our Uber and told the driver to be careful with us. He made us feel like celebrities LOL!

Thanks to Jake Bugg for trusting us and we hope to work with you again in the future.

Big love, bro!
