What’s On… UD Music Opens The Waterfront Stage at Power & Respect, 11th July, Queen Elizabeth Park

UD Music is taking the first slot on The Waterfront Stage as part of Power & Respect, the second live weekend of The Music is Black Festival from East Bank at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on July 11th.

At 12pm on Saturday 11th July, UD presents lina sounds, Charlotte Dowsson and Isabelle Mettle, with DJ Mimi Rich holding down the changeovers and closing out the opening hour. It’s a rare platform — three artists from our programmes stepping onto one of the biggest outdoor stages in east London, on a bill curated by Jamz Supernova and shared with names like Terri Walker, Lava La Rue and the Cassie Kinoshi Quartet.

Why this slot matters

Power & Respect is built around celebrating Black women and non-binary voices shaping music and culture — a focus that sits close to everything UD stands for. Twenty-five years in, our work has always been about giving young Black British talent a stage before the industry finds them. Opening the day at a festival of this scale, in front of a Waterfront crowd, is exactly the kind of moment our Industry Takeover and Talent House programming exists to build toward.
