Maria Hanlon is a London-based DJ, presenter & music writer. Since moving back to London in 2021, Maria has been busy playing across the capital showcasing her signature sound, weaving together the best in Soulful House, Deep House & Garage. Despite only picking up DJing over two years ago, Maria has been making serious waves on the circuit – this year will see her return to the infamous Pagoda at Secret Garden Party, Queens Yard Summer Party, Ibiza and make her Cross The Tracks debut. When Maria’s not DJing she’s working at BBC Introducing in London and hosting The Voices Breakfast Show on Voices Radio and writing for UD.

In this in-depth interview with Yemi Abiade, we’ll explore Ahmed’s career, from beginning his broadcasting career at pirate and community radio stations in East London, focusing on providing opportunities for young talent to get into broadcasting and the media, to working with the Ministry of Justice as the Head of Prison Radio from 2016-2019.
Now leading BBC Asian Network to reach over half a million listeners weekly and more than two million through social media and video content, he’s also been tasked with moving the whole Asian Network winning Gold at the 2024 ARIAS as the best radio station in the UK and recently posting its highest RAJAR numbers post Covid.
