What’s On… BBC ‘Where it Begins’ trainee scheme applications open

Wondering if a career in radio is for you? The BBC have announced four new paid placement opportunities running from October-November 2024. Read on, apply today and kickstart your future…

These 8-week, paid placements are an entry level opportunity for anyone who has a passion for radio, broadcasting, music, and culture. They’ll learn audio production skills at the BBC and will gain a 360 experience across live shows and core teams. Please note this is an off-air scheme, so isn’t for someone who wants to be a presenter.  

BBC Radio 1 – London – 1 role

This paid placement offers a golden opportunity to immerse yourself in the dynamic world of BBC Radio 1. You’ll get hands-on skills and experience working across our shows and departments, all at the heart of the action in our HQ in London.

BBC Radio 1Xtra – London – 1 role

This paid placement offers a golden opportunity to immerse yourself in the dynamic world of BBC Radio 1Xtra. You’ll get hands-on skills and experience working across our shows and departments, all at the heart of the action in our HQ in London.

BBC Asian Network – Birmingham – 2 roles

Are you passionate about radio, broadcasting and South Asian music and culture? Do you thrive on staying ahead of the curve with the latest music, culture, and entertainment trends? Are you excited about the role of new technology and social media in shaping our experiences and connecting with audiences? If you answered yes, we want YOU to be part of our team!

Applications close midnight 4th August. Placements will run October – November 2024.
