This exhibition serves as an introduction to Araba Ackon‘s art, exploring her proximity to homelessness and the homeless community, which has profoundly influenced and shaped her creative expression.
It reflects how the music created and shared by her peers has offered her a much-needed sense of home, identity, and community.

Even in moments of creative paralysis, when the weight of being a young Black British creative feels overwhelming, her “self-made home” emerges in the hands, voices, and art of her peers and her-self spaces adorned with graffiti-streaked walls.

The work itself is a deliberate act of maximalism, an overcompensation for the absence of home in both the metaphorical and literal sense. Her aim is to immerse viewers at the heart of her creative world, as if standing in the nucleus of her mind—drenched in music, art, and the echoes of community.

Music on the night will be supplied by Katalyssst.
