The Flames Collective is UD’s flagship programme, working with young people from inner-city secondary schools who demonstrate high potential when it comes to music.
Born in 2016, from a series of songwriting camps, Flames now gives 20+ young people with singing talent, recruited via the schools projects, an entry into the world of the professional music industry.
Participants benefit from year-round weekly sessions and weekend or holiday camps offering expertise in vocal technique, songwriting, performance skills and the opportunity to record and perform at live gigs.
The regular rehearsals help mentors signpost candidates to more advanced creative programmes run by UD – check the Incubator programme – which gives promising emerging artists tailored support.
Fast becoming the go-to vocal group to liven up a show or recording, Flames Collective have already collaborated with the likes of RAYE, Kojey Radical, Grace Carter, Jake Bugg, Debbie and more.
Having just performed with multi-award winner RAYE at the 2024 BRIT Awards and alongside The Heritage Orchestra for her sold-out O2 London show, garnering 5 star reviews across the board, Flames Collective celebrate with the release of their new single, ‘FaceTime’. Written by Flames and produced by their musical director, Andy Gilbert, ‘FaceTime’ lays the foundation for their forthcoming EP coming in Spring 2024.
With an unparalleled track record of supporting Black and culturally diverse talent, we aim to support young people in what could be the beginning of their journey in music.
