UD Low Down: Absolutely x Flames Collective x Angel Lunda

Flames Collective vocalist, Angel Lunda, gives us an insight into recording choirs parts for AbsolutelyI Just Don’t Know You Yet‘, and performing the track in front of a huge audience at All Points East

My name is Angel Lunda; I am a 17-year-old artist who joined Flames Collective in April of 2022.

Supporting Absolutely at All Points East on her new track ‘I Just Don’t Know You Yet‘ and also being part of the new track recording with the Flames Collective was phenomenal.

When I had first heard we would be performing with Absolutely, I had been no stranger to her artistry, which stands out through her ability to blend raw emotion with polished precision. She has not only carved out her own lane in the music industry but remained unapologetically unique and true to her sound while doing so. Her magnetic energy filled the room almost instantly; each member could feel that it was clear she was not just leading the performance; she was building an atmosphere where every singer and musician felt valued.

The build up to the festival was a whirlwind of nerves and excitement. Backstage, you could argue it was like controlled chaos– the last-minute run throughs, laughter, and the quiet hum of adrenaline you only feel before a big show. Despite all of this, Absolutely had a calm confidence that kept us all steady.

For many of the Flames Collective members, this was their first time performing on a stage as big as All Points East and in front of an audience of such a size. You could feel the anticipation, all amplified by the scale of the moment, however, there was this underlying excitement – that being the thrill of stepping into something new together and sharing that energy as a collective.

Once Absolutely introduced us onto the stage, the roar from the crowd was nothing less than unforgettable. Instantly lifting the nerves and replacing them with pure adrenaline. The crowd was alive, yet it felt strangely intimate, like we were all apart of something bigger than ourselves.

A month before the festival, the Flames Collective were also invited to be part of a new recording of Absolutely’s viral hit, ‘I Just Don’t Know You Yet‘. There were little moments in the recording booth – harmonies that clicked instantly, lines we tried again until they felt just right. She has a certain way of knowing exactly what she wants, while still making collaboration feel effortless, By the end, we all knew we had made something special.

I think I can speak for everyone when I say working with Absolutely reminded us that artistry is about a balance of leadership & collaboration.

Being part of Absolutely’s All Points East debut and the choral edit of the single, wasn’t just a gig or a recording, but moments of growth, joy and connection. I’m grateful to have been involved and I cannot wait to see where Absolutely takes her music next.
