The Spit Game is a collective of artists, actors, models, producers and creatives representing young Black London cultures. Output covers a wide range of young Black excellence in creativity, including music and film. At the core are the in-house Cypher Series, Spit on the Street and short films. For Industry Takeover 2023, Spit Game showed an audience how they do their thing – filming a live cypher at UD’s Talent House…
The youth of today are giving the likes of Central Cee and Digga D a run for their money. Separating into the Red Team and the Blue Team for the #IT2023 Live Cypher, they took it in turns to spit over a range of drill bits. Everyone who jumped on the mic was hard, but regardless what made the performances warming to watch is how supportive they all were of each other. They’d be gassing each other up, bopping to the bars being delivered by their team mates. We also loved how while there weren’t as many girls who took part, the boys recognised their skill and celebrated them still – which isn’t as common as one would like in the music industry unfortunately, so it’s nice to see that the young people of today are doing it from early on.
Spit Game came with a range of different cyphers that the audience deciding who won – both teams winning at least one each. Everyone’s freestyling was so impressive with lot’s of the participants clearly having a promising career ahead in music.
